Judgments
: The High
Court is the highest appeal court in the Queensland Court hierarchy and for

Australian Legal Information Institute provides
access to judgments and legislation throughout Australia. The site also
contains journal articles and information on

Legal Aid Queensland
: This
publications page contains
numerous downloadable fact-sheets and
self-help
kits and other useful information about the law in Queensland.
The site also provides
legal
information on some legal topics, options for accessing free or
affordable legal advice, frequently asked questions and a glossary of legal
terms. The
Family Law Guide is very useful for Queenslanders trying to negotiate
the family law system. |

Caxton
Legal Centre :
provides a limited
range of self-help kits.
The Caxton Legal Centre also publishes the highly recommended
Queensland Law Handbook. All Queenslanders should access
this book during their dealings with the law. The book is useful
even if you have professional legal advice to help you make the best use
of your lawyer. Purchase the book from Caxton Legal Centre or
borrow a copy from your local library (Brisbane residents -

Public Trustee :
has an information sheet on the process of
Administering a Deceased Estate in Queensland (the Public
Trustee also has
a
free
will making service to all Queenslander's over the age of 18).
The Queensland Court Registry also publishes an information sheet on
obtaining probate
(authority to administer) for a deceased estate.

Caxton Legal Centre (Brisbane) : The centre provides free legal advice and publishes
a limited number self help kits .
The centre also publishes the
Queensland
Law Handbook which provides helpful legal information on a variety
of topics.

Logan Legal Advice Centre (Brisbane / Logan) : The centre provides free legal advice and publishes
a limited number self help kits .

Citizens' Advice Bureau and Highway Legal Service (Gold Coast) :
community service organisation funded by the Commonwealth & State
Governments and the Gold Coast City Council. It offers, free of charge,
general information and referrals, legal advice by qualified solicitors
and financial counselling by a qualified financial counsellor.

Youth Advocacy Centre (Qld): offers free confidential legal
and welfare assistance to young people under 17 who live in or around
Brisbane and on a limited basis to young people outside Brisbane, but
living in Queensland, by telephone. Help may also be available to 17 and
18 year olds if their problem is about school or being held in a
Brisbane juvenile detention centre. The site also includes a
number of information sheets on assault, dealing with the Police, courts
and other youth legal issues.

Union of Queensland : The union provides a number of services
to tenants, including free phone advice available throughout Queensland
and a legal service. The website contains 'fast
facts' for renters in downloadable PDF format.

Defenders Office (Qld) : Provides legal advice and assistance
on public interest planning and environmental matters.

Offers advice and advocacy on financial matters for persons on low incomes
